He builds optical devices with semiconductor processes. The three areas this lab is organised around — nanostructures that control light over large areas, imaging optics taken from animal eyes, and photodetectors that keep working once they bend — are the same three that run through his own work. He designs the structures, runs the process and takes the measurements himself.

He received his M.S. (2019) and Ph.D. (2023) from the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at GIST, advised by Prof. Young Min Song, after a B.S. at Pusan National University. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Flexible Optoelectronics Laboratory at GIST and at Harvard SEAS with Prof. Donhee Ham, and a Senior Researcher at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. He joins Kongju National University in September 2026, when PIXEL opens.
